Every community has to deal with a variety of water issues: such as supply, quality, storm runoff, treatment of wastewater, etc. In Central California, there have been water shortages for a number of years, which has constrained development and redevelopment goals of many cities. Several years ago, the City Council of Sand City decided to develop its own reliable water supply, and directed staff to start working on a desalination water project that would provide water for its General Plan objectives to upgrade the City.
Sand City has been working on its water project for over five years, and has achieved some significant milestones. It is scheduled that the water project will be completed and ready to deliver water by the spring of 2009.
