Sand City falls within the jurisdiction of the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District (MPWMD). The purpose of the MPWMD is to manage, augment, and protect water resources within its jurisdictional boundaries. New construction, building additions, and changes of use fall within the purview of the Water District and may require a water permit.
