Design, Implement & Manage

The purpose of the Engineering Department, under the direction of the City Engineer, is to design, implement, and manage civil improvement projects outlined in the City's Capital Improvement Plan, which includes street and utility improvements. The engineering Department also reviews grading/drainage plans and civil engineering plans as part of a development project's plan check review prior to issuance of building permits. The latest endeavor of the Engineering Department is the Sand City Water Supply Project for the development of a municipal desalination plant. Read more about the desalination plant.

Engineering Department services are supplied by Creegan + D'angelo, a private engineering firm that has a local office in Monterey.
