Design Review Committee

The Design Review Committee (DRC) was established in 1984 with the adoption of Chapter 18.58 of the Municipal Code. The DRC consists of five members, appointed by the City Council for two-year terms. The Community Development Director serves as the ex-officio member of the Committee. The current members of the Design Review Committee include two local architects and area residents.

The DRC meets on an as-needed basis, and has a number of responsibilities; review site plans and architectural plans for new construction, building additions, commercial signs, etc. Approvals are typically in the form of a permit. The DRC has also been granted land use authority by the City Council over a specific area of Sand City, commonly referred to as the "East Dunes."
