Sand City Building Department

The purpose of the Building Department is to ensure construction projects are compliant with State and local building codes. The City of Sand City has a contract arrangement with the City of Monterey to utilize their Building and Fire Department staff and resources for plan check examination and on-site specifications. The Building Department is overseen by the Building Official and Sand City Community Development Director.

Note: When calling to set up an inspection, please have the following information available:

1. Exact Address of Job (including building # and street name)

2. Type of inspection needed (i.e. sheetrock, framing, etc)

3. The day the inspection is needed (24 hour minimum notice required please specify A.M. or P.M.).
4. Permit number

5. Your name and daytime phone number

Important Note:

In accordance with Section 305 of the Uniform Building Code, all construction work for which a permit is required shall be subject to an inspection by the building official. All such construction shall remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes until approved by he building official. It shall be the duty of the permit applicant to cause the work to remain accessible and exposed for inspection purposes. Neither the building official nor the jurisdiction shall be liable for expense entailed in the removal or replacement of any material required to allow inspection.
